Association hunter Jeremy shows some field shots after he filled his tags.
Kansas Rio Grande Turkey
Rio Grande Turkey hunting means open ground requiring good concealment.
Some camera shots from third week in April. Spring season in Kansas starting in April through end of May does mean much green. More so in Rio Grande country being earlier to warm/green up.
From another hunter.
Just would not come for a youth hunter to have a high probability of one round success. Kansas late to run spring season during the month of May is often warm enough making a better experience introducing spouse or youths.
Grass height means much to turkey movement when combined with heavy dew. Spring season often means higher, wetter grass. Affecting less movement as does high wind. Both should effect set up location assessment.
From Andrew E., while on a winter deer scouting trip.
Pictures form different hunters all give a collective perspective developing expectations.
Most have after some time on the ground several flocks identified to day time patterns, possibly roost locations. Those fall and winter flock sightings lead to frustration during spring when patterns change.
