This is a large farm that has also been overlooked for years. From the road it looks open but there are some good ditches and a small timber plot in the middle. The Bob White State Park adjoins the land to the NE. Deer frequently travel back and forth from the park. The turkey do the same.
Names have been changed.
Sportsmen working together On the opening morning of firearms season, Jake and Rick, MAHA members were hunting together in Carroll county Missouri. It was a beautiful day and both were successful.
During the day, both noticed a vehicle driving around the borders of club property. While dragging a deer to the road, the vehicle stopped and engaged in friendly conversation. It was obvious that this was a “road hunter”. As he drove away Jake wrote down the license number just in case it would be needed later.
A few weeks later, a bird hunter reserved the same property. While hunting, he discovered a pile of six deer carcasses. He then notified Jon Nee of his discovery.
During the firearms antler-less season, Curt, another MAHA member, was hunting the Carroll property and corroborated the find with Jon. He also could tell where someone had been driving on club property and spotlighting. Curt knew Jake and Rick had hunted opening firearms weekend and called to inquire if they had seen anything. Jake had saved the license number and gave it to him. Curt immediately called a conservation agent. The conservation agent took the information and investigated.
The result of the investigation included arrests of three men charged with multiple wildlife violations.
Twelve deer were taken from one man that scored 130 or better class bucks. This included one in velvet. All the deer were taken the same year in 6-different Missouri counties. Other violations were cited as well.
The men will lose their hunting privileges and pay substantial fines.
The real story is that true Sportsmen will stand up and protect the resources we all love.MAHA hunters are truly an example of the Best-of-the-Best.
Photos given to us by a member that's been watching this deer grow over the past 2 years.
He passed on this 10 pointer last season.
