Kansas prairie chicken

Two ways to be successful at Kansas Prairie Chicken hunting. The first is to be lucky and slop into them. That luck is also to recognize the brown hen pheasant like bird as a Prairie Chicken.

The second method is to have steady, quiet working dogs that have first scented these open ground prairie grouse.

The Prairie Chicken is far more sensitive to colors such as hunter orange and noise than pheasants.
