Wetlands Work

With all the flooding we’ve had over the past couple of years the slough in Henry B #5 pool has been losing water due to the old river channel changing its course.

Blind #5 Henry B

Last weekend Bruce and Jon Sr. blocked one of the washouts with sandbags, which will help hold more water in front of blind #5.

.

We discovered another washout that was running water out at a pretty good rate. Since it was impassable to access with a backhoe or bobcat, Bruce dug a barricade with a shovel by hand and we later secured it with sandbags. A big hats off to Bruce for his hard work.

To enjoy the benefits of such hard work as this we need our waterfowl hunters to work together and share blinds, lakes and wade-in areas with other members on occasion. A single blind or lake on the open market would cost 4 to 5 times what we charge for yearly dues and you would be struck with the same blind or lake for the entire season.
