Waterfowl

The Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge in Holt County Missouri is currently holding 800,000 plus snow geese, which means it’s peak spring migration. We don’t have many members equipped and/or interested in hunting white geese, but MAHA has unlimited acreage of crop stubble fields the geese feed in during their migration north.

If you are interested in goose hunting the spring migration, we would recommend in Missouri the fields and bodies of water in Atchison Buchanan , Cass, Henry, Holt, Linn, Platte, and Pettis Counties.

In Kansas Atchison, Marshall, Nemaha, Norton, and Rooks Counties.

If you are local and would like to see what close to a million waterfowl congregated in one area looks like, you might consider taking a drive through the Loess Bluff’s National Wildlife area in Holt County Missouri, which is less than an hour north of Saint Joseph on I-29.
