Upland Bird

Without a doubt pheasant is the bird of choice with most upland bird hunters. The 2017-18 Kansas upland forecast was very optimistic for both quail and pheasant across the majority of the state’s regions.

The quail numbers were above average but the pheasant numbers were a little deceptive, especially in the SW region where the Association has a lot of leased acreage. We had a fairly mild winter across most of Kansas and no drastic spring storms so far, so let’s cross our fingers for a good summer hatch the next couple of months.
