As of last weekend, all the MAHA blinds have been built and/or repaired and covered. Once again, long time member Bruce was there from the very beginning until the end. A great big thanks to Bruce.
We are very fortunate in Linn County to have a 12-acre holding lake for a guaranteed water source. This year has been exceptionally dry, but somehow our wetlands in Linn County escaped the evaporation that Henry County encountered.
East Marsh
Blind 1 with more water than we’ve seen this time of the year in a long time.
Wade-in 8 is an addition this year since we have so much water to work with.
Wade-in 4 will be a good spot to work a young dog and get away from everyone.
West Marsh
Blind 5 covered and ready to go. The landowner left the standing corn from last year and the ears still have plenty of kernels to feed the ducks.
Wade-in 7 holding good water from the holding lake. The pool was planted to corn, flooded, replanted to milo, and treated for army worms. Our landowner is good as they come.
Blind 9 covered and ready to go with plenty of water and moist soil vegetation to feed the ducks.
There is a good chance for rain starting tonight and picking back up Saturday through Tuesday. Let’s cross our fingers we will get enough to fill the marshes in Henry A and B.
