Deer
Hi Jon,
Wanted to take a moment to recap my archery hunt. I had a few bucks on camera that really interested me and was going to target them. They stopped showing up in October, and both farms were going to see some hunting pressure the week that I had planned on hunting. I switched over to a farm that I had turkey hunted in the past and knew it held a bunch of deer. Went in sight unseen, and had a few amazing hunts, the first morning saw somewhere around 30-40 deer. Passed up a buck I hoped I would not regret, he was very nice, and I had initially misjudged him when he was coming in.
Nothing came together over several hunts, and I took a break for a bit. I headed back for one last go, planning on hunting for 3 or 4 days. At sunrise, had a buck chase does right under me, and was able to make a great shot. I watched him walk into the woods and was silently celebrating what was going to be a relatively easy short, flat drag out. Then, he walked to the creek, stood on the high bank side, and fell off into the creek. What was going to be easy just got difficult – and wet….
